Fraud

An individual reported to Police that he received a suspicious email from a fraudulent MC email account which contained an offer of employment. A QR code was provided and once scanned uploaded fraudulent checks for the victim to cash for gift cards, etc. The victim was notified that his bank account had been closed due to this check being submitted. Police advised the victim to discontinue any communication with the suspect and notified the Information Technology Dept. of the incident. #25MC00028 – Closed C.
