Democracy House
At Democracy House, Middlesex College’s Center for Community Engagement and Civic Leadership, you’ll have the opportunity to serve your community while developing the leadership, communication, and professional skills that will benefit you long after graduation. Since 1995, Democracy House has empowered students to create positive change, connect with community organizations, and become engaged citizens and leaders.
If you’re looking for a deep commitment to service, the Bonner Leader Program offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in your community. As one of only two community colleges in the nation affiliated with the Bonner Foundation, Middlesex College provides Bonner Leaders with the chance to complete at least 300 hours of community service each academic year with a community partner organization. Along the way, you’ll participate in weekly cohort meetings, leadership development workshops, guest speaker presentations, and professional development activities while earning Federal Work-Study wages for your service.
Want to volunteer but need a more flexible schedule? Volunteers in Action, also part of Democracy House, makes it easy to get involved through one-time service projects, volunteer events, and community initiatives that fit around your classes, work, and family commitments. Whether you volunteer once a semester or throughout the year, you’ll have opportunities to make a difference while connecting with fellow students who share your commitment to giving back.
