Vilvert, owner of Naturalvert granola, earned his degree in the Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Dietetics program, which taught him the fundamentals of the food industry.
Vetchay Vilvert, class of 2013, is the owner of Naturalvert, an organic food brand available online nationally and in stores throughout New Jersey.
Vilvert started experimenting with his own blend of granola while studying at Middlesex College; it is now the staple product of Naturalvert.
“One thing that Middlesex has done to prepare me for my journey is by allowing me to learn the fundamentals of the food industry,” Vilvert said. “While I learned this in the classroom, it gave me the foundation to face obstacles, keep going when things were hard and build something I once thought was impossible. And today my business is sold in national retailers like Whole Foods, ShopRite, and many more—and it all began with one step, one class, one decision to try.”
While running his business, Vilvert continues to give back to the Middlesex College community in his role on the advisory board for the Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Dietetics department. Vilvert provides expert advice on the department’s strategic direction, academic program, and policy development while offering recommendations for improvement to support the College’s mission and goals toward success.
