Middlesex College President Named One of New Jersey’s Top Higher Ed Influencers in 2023
President Mark McCormick was recognized as a higher education leader who is delivering the kind of education that is needed in N.J.
President Mark McCormick has been named by ROI-NJ as one of the top influencers in higher education in the Garden State, and just one of 8 top community college presidents.
ROI-NJ noted New Jersey’s community college system as one of the finest in the country. In recognizing McCormick’s leadership, the publication highlighted Middlesex County’s Community, Innovation, and Opportunity Strategic Investment Plan, aimed at cementing Middlesex College as one of the best two-year colleges in the country, while turning the campus into a multifaceted destination for the community.
McCormick was appointed the seventh President of Middlesex College by the College’s Board of Trustees in April of 2019 after serving as Interim President for nine months.
Before his appointment as Interim President McCormick served as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at the College for four years. In that role, McCormick supported faculty in the development of a wide array of new degree programs, the reform of developmental education leading to less time to earn a degree for many students, and the adoption of Open Educational Resources for many courses reducing or even eliminating the cost of textbooks.
Prior to serving at Middlesex College, McCormick served as a faculty member for 18 years and an academic administrator at several other community colleges.
