To facilitate a smooth transition to Middlesex College, CELT offers a voluntary faculty mentoring program for all new full-time faculty.
New faculty are assigned a department and CELT mentor who meet regularly. In addition to one-on-one confidential mentoring sessions, new faculty and mentors participate in CELT Mentoring Circles where small groups of new faculty and mentors engage in meaningful conversations about being an effective faculty member at Middlesex College.
Topics such as getting to know our student population, the syllabus and first day of class, campus resources including disability services, classroom management issues, and grading are addressed in these programs.
We invite all new faculty to participate in this collaborative mentoring program to support teaching and learning as you expand your teaching practice and become involved in campus service on the way to tenure. In addition to the monthly CELT newsletter, each mentoring cohort receives a monthly newsletter with information relevant to their cohort and year at the College.
CELT offers all “New to Middlesex” adjuncts an opportunity to participate in a voluntary mentoring program during their first semester at the College.
Recognizing that adjunct faculty are new to the college and not always new to teaching, each new adjunct is matched with two mentors, one from their department and one from CELT. In addition to one-on-one confidential mentoring sessions, new faculty and mentors have opportunities to meet in group sessions to discuss strategies related to effective teaching.
In addition to the monthly CELT newsletter, all members of the “New to Middlesex” Mentoring Cohort receive a monthly mentoring newsletter with information to support teaching at Middlesex College.
