For Jessica Medina, graduation means finishing what she started almost 15 years ago.
The North Brunswick mother of two teenage boys and a six-year old daughter first enrolled at Middlesex College back in 2007 but had to withdraw.
“I had so much going on personally. My sons were small at the time. Now they’re older and more settled. Even though I have a six-year old, it’s more manageable. Everything is more stable in my life.”
Medina will be starting Rutgers Business School this fall, with the goal of taking the CPA exam.
She says that her life has completely “flipped” since returning to Middlesex College last September. While life continues to be intensely busy, she says she has better control over how to juggle all of her priorities – family, full-time job and school.
“It has been overwhelming on the home front. But I’m loving this whole journey. I just see things so differently now that I’m older. Being in classes again, I feel like I can apply everything I’m learning. And once I figured out how to fit and manage everything in a day, I realized how much more I could take on. I really feel like a different person than when I first started at Middlesex,” she said.
