José Laureano has been honored with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators 2025 Mena Valdez Community College Award.
Middlesex College Vice President of Student Enrollment Services José Laureano has been awarded the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) 2025 Mena Valdez Community College Award. The award recognizes members of NASPA’s Latinx/a/o Knowledge Community (LKC), which was established within NASPA in 2002 to promote the empowerment of Latinx/a/o professionals. Each year, NASPA honors LKC members to recognize their contributions to the advocacy and advancement of Latinx/a/o communities in higher education.
“I am deeply honored to have received the NASPA LKC Community College Award. This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts and support of my colleagues, students, and the entire community at Middlesex College,” said Laureano.
The award highlights positive role models inclusive of community college scholars and practitioners. Laureano has demonstrated a passion and dedication to advocating for the success of Latinx/a/o students and all students served at Middlesex College. His commitment to advancing community college students and professionals is evident through his sustained presentations, influence, and scholarship at both regional and national levels.

The award was presented at the NASPA national conference in New Orleans on March 18, 2025, where Laureano was recognized alongside other distinguished recipients.
