McCormick has facilitated a partnership with Middlesex County to turn the College’s campus into a multifaceted destination for education, recreation, and community engagement.
Hailed for expanding and diversifying academic and workforce programs, emphasizing successful student outcomes, and providing real-world experience for students in today’s job market, Middlesex College President Mark McCormick has been named to the NJBIZ Education Power 50 list as one of the leaders in his field in New Jersey for the second year in a row.
“Middlesex College and Middlesex County are on the move,” said McCormick. “At Middlesex College we are leaning into our mission of providing affordable, quality education and seeking to meet the needs of area employers by partnering with businesses of all sizes and with Middlesex County.”
NJBIZ cites McCormick’s partnership with the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners in developing the Middlesex County Community, Innovation, and Opportunity (CIO) Strategic Investment Plan, which is poised to turn the College’s campus into multifaceted destination for education, recreation, and community engagement.
The CIO Plan encompasses building a new Student Center, a multipurpose community venue for concerts and sporting events, an Academic Workforce Development and Conference Center, and a community park.
Middlesex College will also be offering programming at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick thanks to Middlesex County’s $16 million investment in the facility. This new collaboration with Middlesex County will provide Middlesex College students with an opportunity to gain real-work experience in a competitive job environment.
Middlesex College Board Chair Praful Raja praised President McCormick as a collaborative leader. “Dr. McCormick is an exceptional leader who has raised the profile of Middlesex College in Middlesex County and beyond. Under his leadership, the College has more than tripled the number of students in high school who are taking advantage of taking College courses while in high school. He has also reached out to businesses of all sizes to ensure that the College is meeting their needs for a highly-trained workforce. The College’s graduation rate continues to increase, and Middlesex College students transfer seamlessly to every college and university in New Jersey.”
The NJBIZ editorial staff selects individuals who have been honored for both professional accomplishments and public service. The goal of the Education Power 50 list is to identify individuals who have made contributions through their work and service who make New Jersey a better place to live and do business.
