Gabriella Grande, who recently graduated in May, was elected by her fellow classmates in the 2023 graduating class as graduating student representative to the Board of Trustees for the academic year 2023-2024.
“I think it’s important to uplift other students and encourage them to get more involved in the community,” said Grande. “I also want to show gratitude to the people who have helped me and learn about what schools are thinking about offering future students.”
Grande, a South Amboy native, is currently working as an intern in Washington DC for the U.S. Agency for International Development. She became interested in political science after taking U.S. history in high school. Previously, she interned for New Jersey Representative Frank Pallone during his reelection campaign.
“I work with a team and we try to push out workshops regarding gender equity and sexual harassment and anti-violence messages,” Grande said of her current intern duties. “We try to find solutions, but we don’t want to overlook the conflict, we want to try to resolve that because that’s what we’re all about.”
Grande is thankful for the EOF (Educational Opportunity Fund) at Middlesex for helping launch her college career. She will continue her education at Montclair State in the fall.
