{"id":92,"date":"2022-06-22T12:00:24","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T16:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-www.middlesexcc.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=92"},"modified":"2026-03-30T09:58:44","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T13:58:44","slug":"veteran-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/middlesexcollege.edu\/student-life\/veteran-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Veteran Services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are a dedicated team of veteran students and faculty committed to supporting and empowering the military-connected community at Middlesex College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middlesex College strives to help students maximize their educational benefits and successfully transition from military service to college and beyond, into the workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our goal is to bridge the gap between students and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), ensuring you receive the support and resources you need to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading bb-primary-1\">Our Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff at the College\u2019s Veterans Services Center, located inside the West Hall building on the College\u2019s main campus in Edison, help veteran students with the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manage education benefits\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Guidance on VA education benefits (<a href=\"#chapter-31\" type=\"internal\" id=\"#chapter-31\">Chapter 31<\/a>, <a href=\"#chapter-33\" type=\"internal\" id=\"#chapter-33\">Chapter 33<\/a>, <a href=\"#chapter-35\" type=\"internal\" id=\"#chapter-35\">Chapter 35<\/a>, <a href=\"#chapter-1606\" type=\"internal\" id=\"#chapter-1606\">Chapter&nbsp;1606<\/a>, <a href=\"#national-guard-tuition-waiver\" type=\"internal\" id=\"#national-guard-tuition-waiver\">National Guard Tuition Waive<\/a>r)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>VA work-study opportunities for eligible students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Career and post-graduation guidance, including exploration of vocations and selecting a suitable major\/career\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find job placement assistance and coordinate with Local Veterans\u2019 Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veterans\u2019 Outreach Programs (DVOP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elect healthcare benefits with Veterans Healthcare Administration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guidance with applying for benefits (e.g., disability compensation, life insurance, education, home loan guaranty, and vocational rehabilitation) as well as understanding billing and payments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Referrals for medical and mental health care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Referrals for readjustment counseling services for eligible veterans and their families<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate with school faculty\/staff to provide veteran-specific services (e.g., VA Certifying Official, <a href=\"https:\/\/middlesexcollege.edu\/academics\/career-planning\/career-planning-for-students\/\">Career Readiness and Planning<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/middlesexcollege.edu\/student-life\/disability-services\/\">Accessibility and Disability Resources<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/middlesexcollege.edu\/student-life\/counseling-services\/\">Counseling and Student Wellness<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support to enhance student life for veterans and dependents on and off campus\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community outreach and engagement, including veteran gatherings, workshops, and networking events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading bb-primary-1\">The Gold Standard of Military Friendly Institutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Middlesex College was placed in the Military Friendly Gold tier by <em>G.I. Jobs<\/em> magazine in 2022. The College was ranked No. 5 in the Top 10 of large public two-year colleges and is the only two-year New Jersey school to be recognized with the distinction.
