The program is open to students in HS, any grade level. All are considered based on motivation to participate. regardless of grades or legal status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students wishing to enroll in a college class must meet the qualifications, including an application requiring approval from their HS Counselor and parent\/guardian at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Educational workshops: career exploration, time management, study skills, financial literacy, stress management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FREE college classes (by selection, requires parent\/guardian and high school counselor recommendation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FREE tutoring from college mentors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peer mentoring on high school-to-college transition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Explore highlights from the E.M.P.O.W.E.R. Program, featuring the work and accomplishments of our E.M.P.O.W.E.R. scholars, past and present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.middlesexcc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2021\/12\/empower-celebration-2021-spring.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spring 2021 program highlights<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.middlesexcc.edu\/new-brunswick-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2021\/03\/EMPOWER-celebration.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Summer 2020 program highlights<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engagement with E.M.P.O.W.E.R. staff a minimum of four hours per week, via workshops or tutoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Successful completion of college class (if selected)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fall and spring community service hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improvement in high school grades as evidenced by transcripts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Middlesex College application and completion of FAFSA or alternate FAFSA application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All students, new and returning, are required to submit the E.M.P.O.W.E.R. Application and email high school transcripts. Any student who is interested and selected to take a college course, must complete the High School Scholars (HSS) Application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An in person or virtual interview with the HS to College Transition Coordinator is part of the selection process. Past participants are encouraged to re-apply.
