{"id":41,"date":"2022-05-11T14:32:28","date_gmt":"2022-05-11T18:32:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-www.middlesexcc.edu\/admissions\/?page_id=41"},"modified":"2024-09-19T11:19:09","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T15:19:09","slug":"international-applicants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/middlesexcollege.edu\/admissions\/international-applicants\/","title":{"rendered":"International Applicants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you are an international student seeking an F1 student visa, please review the admissions procedures below for international student applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><small><strong>Please note:<\/strong> If you are in the U.S. with a visitor\u2019s (B1 or B2) visa and do not plan to return to your home country to obtain the student visa, we recommend you do not submit your application until you have stayed in the U.S. for a minimum of three months.<\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading bb-primary-1\">Application Deadlines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications and all supporting documents must be received by the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For Fall Semester (which starts in September): April 15 of the same year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Spring Semester (which starts in January): September 15 of the preceding year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><small><strong>Please note: <\/strong>We recommend you complete the application process well in advance of these dates to allow time for processing, which can take six to eight weeks. All documents, including bank statements, must be original. The sponsor does not have to be a U.S. citizen. You can have more than one sponsor if one sponsor cannot show the total $25,140. Each sponsor must provide the bank statement and employer verification described below. All financial documents must be converted into U.S. dollars. On page 4 of the Affidavit, in item 38, the sponsor must mark \u201cintend.\u201d On page 8, the sponsor must guarantee a minimum $25,140.00 for each year of study.<\/p>\n<p>The affidavit must be sent with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Original bank statement with the sponsor\u2019s name and address, OR a letter from the bank on bank letterhead, which must show at least the amount the sponsor indicated in the Affidavit of Support.<\/li>\n<li>Proof of sponsor\u2019s income, which can be provided by a letter from the sponsor\u2019s employer, on company letterhead, indicating the sponsor\u2019s salary and number of years of employment. If sponsor is self-employed or owns his\/her\/their business then a copy of the most recent income tax return can be supplied in place of the employer verification.<\/li>\n<li>If the student will be living with family members or friends, an affidavit must be completed indicating room and board is being provided. This lowers the required sponsorship funding from $25,140 to $15,640 of support for each year of study.<\/li>\n<li>If the student is bringing a dependent with him\/her\/they, an additional $5,000 in support is required and must be shown in the affidavit.<\/li>\n<li>If the sponsor is retired he\/she\/they must show proof of income\/pension.<\/li>\n<li>If the student is sponsoring him\/herself\/themself then the funding required is doubled (25,140 x 2 years).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/i-134\">I-134, Declaration of Financial Support<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\r\n    <\/div><!-- \/.accordion__body -->\r\n  <\/div><!-- \/.accordion__section -->\r\n<\/div><!-- \/.accordion js-accordion -->\n\n\r\n<div class=\"accordion accordion--secondary accordion--secondary-size1 js-accordion\">\r\n  <div class=\"accordion__section\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion__head\">\r\n      <h3 class=\"h4 mb-0\">Official Transcripts or Mark Sheets from High School<\/h3>\r\n      <span class=\"accordion__arrow\">\r\n        <svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 448 512\"><path d=\"M224 416c-8.188 0-16.38-3.125-22.62-9.375l-192-192c-12.5-12.5-12.5-32.75 0-45.25s32.75-12.5 45.25 0L224 338.8l169.4-169.4c12.5-12.5 32.75-12.5 45.25 0s12.5 32.75 0 45.25l-192 192C240.4 412.9 232.2 416 224 416z\"\/><\/svg>\r\n      <\/span>\r\n    <\/a>\r\n\r\n    <div class=\"accordion__body\">\r\n      <p><p>Transcripts must be translated into English. Translations must be official and completed by a certified translation service. If photocopies of transcripts are being submitted, then they must be notarized or attested to. This documentation must be translated into English. The exam is offered at no cost to the student. If language study is needed, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses will be required. Once a student is proficient in the English language, he or she can begin a degree program. SAT scores are optional. Students admitted for the spring semester need to arrive on campus no later than January 5.
